Our Nursery Day

Session times: Mornings – 8:45am – 11:45am / Afternoons – 12:15pm – 3:15pm

Whether your child will be attending our morning or afternoon sessions, you and your nursery child will enter the main gates at the time your child's nursery session begins.

At the end of your child's nursery session, they will be collected from the same place.

Please note further guidance will be given regarding drop off and collection times. For the first three weeks of nursery the children will be given different timings for the transition period and timings will be staggered accordingly to allow a smooth transition into nursery. This information will be given to all new starters as part of their 'Welcome Packs'.

OUR TIMETABLE

At Tintagel Nursery we are proud to offer effective school-based provision. School-based provision includes a more structured approach to teaching Phonics, Math's and Topic related knowledge and understanding. Our provision and learning environment is planned for effectively to ensure that the children can experience the best quality pre-school learning in order to promote school readiness. Both our morning and afternoon sessions are planned effectively to ensure all children have access to the same activities and learning experiences provided.

At the start of their nursery day, your child will always be greeted with a friendly smile and welcome by the nursery staff! Adults within the classroom developing positive relationships with your child is paramount in order for your child to make progress and feel comfortable within the nursery setting.

Once inside the nursery, your child will be supported to develop their independence with self-care needs. Developing independence and resilience is also vital to ensure your child aims to succeed in their learning and become 'school-ready'. Your child will have their own peg to keep their personal belongings together and safe.

Everyday, your child will learn to recognise their name, progressing onto writing their name. Being able to write their name is another fantastic skill for your child to develop whilst in nursery to help develop their independence and school-readiness. As well as being able to write their name, your child will learn how to recognise their name through our self-registration activities.

The nursery day then continues through a more structured routine starting with continuous provision (free-flow play) activities. During continuous provision your child will be able to freely explore the wide range of activities based on different topics throughout the year. These activities are planned effectively to cover all areas of the EYFS curriculum.

The day is continued through the direct teaching of early Phonics, Math's and Topic related learning. Providing short, focused direct teaching activities aids to bridge the gap between a pre-school setting and school and has been proven to aid smoother transitions and better outcomes for pupils.
TOILET TRAINING

At Tintagel Nursery understand that all children are unique and will learn and develop skills at different times throughout their lives. Therefore, we ensure that every child is supported through these phases effectively.
